Raise the Roof attend careers event

Raise the Roof is committed to finding and developing new and emerging talent in Scotland. We believe it’s vital to let school-leavers, students and even those thinking about a career change know about the opportunities available, the key skills required and how best to get that all important first-break into the industry.

Earlier this week, Jeannot Hutcheson, our Talent and Resources Co-ordinator joined a panel session along with other industry practitioners at the annual Creative and Cultural Careers Festival organised by BAFTA Scotland and their partners, The University of Edinburgh at The Edinburgh College of Art.

During the hour-long session, each member of the panel gave their insights into how to start and develop a career in the creative industries and answered questions from students in the audience.

Speaking about the event, Jeannot said: ‘New talent is key to continuing to drive the industry forward. These career-focussed events are really important as they highlight to students how just many roles there are within the film and television industry. It allows us as industry professionals to provide an insight into the realities and individual roles as well as encourage them to think about a career in TV’.
