Accessibility Guide

Thank you for your interest in Raise the Roof Productions. This document aims to outline the general accessibility of the building and entry to our office. We are based in a modern building, built with access requirements in mind. All our staff at Raise the Roof are happy to help and if you have any further questions, need assistance or have any access requirements, please contact Jeannot Hutcheson, HR and Talent Executive, jeannot.hutcheson@raisetheroofproductions.com or Anne Dillon, Office Manager, anne.dillon@raisetheroofproductions.com in advance of your visit.

Approaching from main entrance into the front desk

Between 8.30am – 6pm, there is entry into the building through automatic sliding doors which open as you approach. Outside of the building, the pavement is lowered. Access outside of these hours requires a security fob, and on either side of the sliding automatic doors there are manual doors which you push to open after hovering a fob over the black pad to the right of the door mounted on the wall. Security fobs can be obtained from Anne Dillon, Office Manager or our office runner. If you are visiting, there is always someone manning the front desk who can call Raise the Roof to meet you on the ground floor.

Approaching from rear of building into the café

There is an entrance at the rear of the building which gains you entry into the Hub café. This is accessed by 6 steps with a handrail or by following the pavement which hugs the side of the building in a continuous loop. There are no steps at any point on the pavement and the loop is generally flat. The door is an automatic door when opens outwards on approach.

Ground Floor

The ground floor is a large open space with office spaces opening into the communal atrium area. There are zoned seating areas which are shared between the offices: sofas with low rising coffee tables, tables and chairs and high stools and high tables next to the café. There is music at a low level playing in the café and no music in the communal atrium. The atrium ceiling is as tall as the building (three floors) and can cause echoes. Also, there is a pool table available for communal use.

Toilets

Toilets are located throughout the building. There is a disabled toilet on every level of the building. On each level they are located opposite the doors for the lift. There is a handrail either side of the toilet.

Access to our office on third floor

Our offices are on the third floor of the building. This can be accessed either via the stairs or one of the two lifts on the ground floor, both the stairs and the lift need a fob to allow you past the ground floor. Once on the third floor our office is accessed by three sets of double fire doors which open by pulling away from you.

Access to our office via lift

To the right of the front desk there are two lifts, the button to call the lift is at the left-hand side of the doors to the lift. The lift door is 90cm wide and inside the lift is 210cm in length and 110cm in width. Once in the lift hover your fob over the black panel to the right of the buttons for each floor, there is a small light which will flash green, then press for floor 3 which will take you to the level our office is on.

Access to our office via stairs

The stairs are to the left of the lifts through a set of double fire doors which push to open away from you. To open the doors, you first need to hold your fob over the black panel to the left of the doors, then. Then there is a single door to your left which also pushes to open into the stairwell. Our office is on the top floor after 6 flights of stairs (72 steps in total). Once on the top floor there is a single fire door which pulls to opens towards you.

Kitchen

We have a kitchen at the end of our office which is on the same level as the rest of the office. The cupboards with tea, coffee, cups and glasses are located in cupboards above the countertop. On the counter there is two kettles, two microwaves and a coffee machine. There is also a sink, a dishwasher two fridges inbuilt below the counter and one standing fridge separate from the counter. There is seating on high stools and high tables or on office chairs and tables. The kitchen is well lit with floor to ceiling windows which allow a lot of daylight in.

Meeting Rooms

‘Kirstie’ meeting room is well lit with light coming from a window in the corridor and from windows in the office. ‘Phil’ meeting room is dimmer than ‘Kirstie’ as it only gets light from the windows in the office. Both are equipped with overhead ceiling lights and a stand-alone floor lamp. They each have a large table surrounding by office chairs in the centre of the room.

Management office

The management office is accessed by a door which pushes away from you. The door has a handle which you twist downwards before you can push to open. The office is well lit with windows along one wall and overhead lighting throughout. Desks line the edge of the room facing inwards, each desk has an office chair with wheels and two monitors.

Main office

There is no music throughout the office and the office is well lit with windows along one side and overhead lights throughout the office. Desks are set up in banks of four which can be accessed from walkways either side of the bank. Each desk has an office chair with wheels. We have standing desks and extra monitors available on request. Fire evacuation plan The Hub has refuge points in the stairwells throughout the building. The refuge points have an emergency button which is pressed and connected to the emergency services allowing these services to know that there is a person needing assistance to leave the building. The lifts cannot be used in The Hub under any circumstances in a fire or emergency evacuation. There are visual indicators/lights on the alarm system in The Hub. If the fire alarm goes off, the lights will flash. The fire alarm is tested every Tuesday at 2pm.
